Certified translation for an Academic Evaluation Services evaluation
Academic Evaluation Services (AES), a NACES member since 2008, requires the original language version of every document and a certified English translation of any document not issued in English. It accepts three kinds of translator. An individual certified in the United States, such as an ATA member in good standing, with the certification attached and each page signed; a foreign national certified as a translator in the country of origin, such as a traductor público or tradutor juramentado; and companies that are ATA members, which must submit all pages on letterhead with the translator's qualification attached. AES does not accept translations by the client or by anyone merely competent in both languages, and under no circumstance a translation done by a US notary. Eagle Translate is an ATA Corporate Member, the certificate opens the file on our letterhead, every following page is numbered and marked as a certified translation by Eagle Translate, and the certificate names the translator and the membership. Certified translation is $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, in 2 to 3 business days, and STUDENT25 takes 25% off; AES's own translations are $50 per page.
In their own words
What AES says, in its own words
Each academic document to be evaluated must be accompanied by a certified English translation, if the document was not issued in English. One certified translation per document. Each of ours carries its own certificate and number.
Companies that are members of ATA must: Submit all pages of the translations on letterhead; Have the translator's qualification (translator certification) attached to the translation; Cover letters are not necessary. This is the category Eagle Translate falls in. The certificate that opens the file is on our letterhead and names the translator, the qualification and the ATA membership number, and every page after it is numbered and marked as a certified translation by Eagle Translate.
Translations are not accepted when done by the client or by any individual who is 'competent' in both the native language and in English, but who is not certified as a translator.Fluency is not a credential at AES. Neither is a notary stamp, since the same page says under no circumstance does AES accept a translation done by a US public notary.
Requirement by requirement
AES's rules and the Eagle Translate certificate
| What they require | What Eagle Translate delivers |

| Translator's qualification attached | The certificate names the qualified professional translator and the company's ATA membership number; ask us before ordering if AES wants more than that for your file |
| Not by the client, not notary only | Translated and certified by our translator; notarization is never used in place of certification |
| No institutional logos, coats of arms or protected images | Emblems, seals and logos are described in bracketed notes, never reproduced |

What an AES evaluation requires of your documents
- AES requires the original language version of all documents submitted for evaluation and a certified English translation of any document not issued in English.
- Acceptable translators are an individual certified as a translator in the United States, with the certification attached and each page signed; a foreign national certified in the country of origin; or a company that is an ATA member, submitting all pages on letterhead with the translator's qualification attached.
- Translations done by the client, by someone merely competent in both languages, or by a US public notary are not accepted, and translations with multiple errors are rejected.
- Translations must not contain institutional logos, national coats of arms or other protected images.
- AES sells its own translations at an estimated $50 per page, $100 per page rush, counting the front and back of a document as two pages.
Common reasons translations get rejected
- A notarized translation from a notary who is not a translator. AES says under no circumstance does it accept a translation done by a US public notary.
- A translation that reproduces the university's crest. AES rejects translations carrying institutional logos or coats of arms; describe them, do not copy them.
- Pages without letterhead from a company translator. AES's condition for ATA member companies is all pages on letterhead, with the translator's qualification attached.
- Sending an English version without the original. AES requires the original language version of every document.

AES counts the front and back of a document as two pages at $50 each; we bill by words, up to 250 per page, so a diploma with a short reverse is often one page with us.
For German and Austrian documents AES asks for the German language versions even when the university issued an English version as well.

Questions
Common questions
- Does AES accept translations from Eagle Translate?
- AES accepts translations from companies that are ATA members, on letterhead, with the translator's qualification attached. Eagle Translate is an ATA Corporate Member, the certificate is on our letterhead, every page that follows is numbered and marked as a certified translation by Eagle Translate, and the certificate names the translator and the membership. If AES asks for more than the certificate shows, email us before ordering and we will tell you what we can add. AES decides each file; we do not give legal advice.
- Does AES accept notarized translations?
- Not in place of certification. AES says it never accepts a translation done by a US public notary. A certified translation may also be notarized, but it is the translator's certification that AES reads.
- Is it cheaper to translate with AES or with you?
- AES estimates $50 per page and $100 rush, counting each side of a document as a page. Ours is $24.95 per 250 word page, $18.71 with STUDENT25, and the translation is yours to reuse.
- How long does the translation take?
- Certified delivery is 2 to 3 business days; with FREERUSH, Premium delivery in 1 to 2 business days is charged at the Certified price through 31 December 2026.
- Can AES verify the certificate?
- Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
