Certified translation for an ECE credential evaluation
Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) requires an English translation for every document issued in another language unless you buy its Translation Waiver, and the translation must be word for word and in the same format as the original. For most report types ECE even lets you prepare the translation yourself; for pharmacy applications through NABP and the FPGEC it does not, and it asks for an original, official, word for word translation prepared and certified as correct by an official translator, each page signed and dated on official stationery. If an ECE Translation Waiver™ is not purchased, an English translation is required for all documents issued in a language other than English.Two routes, pay ECE $85 to skip translations, or send a translation with each document. With STUDENT25 a one page diploma translation costs $18.71, and the translation is yours to reuse with any other evaluator, school or employer.
You may also prepare the translations yourself as long as they are word-for-word and in the same format as the original document.ECE is the one large evaluator that accepts a self prepared translation for most reports. The standard it sets, word for word and the same format as the original, is the standard we work to on every page, and it is the standard most other receivers of the same documents will hold you to.
Any document, including all seals and/or stamps, not in English must be accompanied by an original, official, word-for-word English translation, prepared and certified as correct by an official translator.The pharmacy rule. Seals and stamps are named on purpose, and our translations describe each one in brackets at its position. The FPGEC counts a certified translator among official translators, and our certificate names the translator and carries the ATA Corporate Member number.
Each page of the original translation must be signed and dated by the translator, and must appear on official stationery. The translator must provide an attestation statement regarding the accuracy of each translation. What an ECE evaluation requires of your documents
- An English translation is required for all documents issued in a language other than English unless the ECE Translation Waiver is added to the order.
- The ECE Translation Waiver costs $85 and is available for the General, General with GPA, Course by Course, High School and University Level Course by Course, and Subject Analysis reports. It is not available for NABP orders.
- Translations must be word for word and in the same format as the original document; for most report types ECE accepts translations the applicant prepared.
- For NABP and FPGEC applications the applicant may not prepare the translation. Any document not in English, including all seals and stamps, needs an original, official, word for word English translation prepared and certified as correct by an official translator.
- The FPGEC considers an official translator to be a certified translator, a certified court interpreter, an authorized government official, or an official from the pharmacy school where the degree was obtained.
- ECE is the only organization NABP works with for the evaluation of foreign pharmacy credentials; an evaluation from any other organization is not accepted for FPGEC certification.
Common reasons translations get rejected
- A self prepared translation in a pharmacy file. ECE allows it for most reports and forbids it for NABP; the FPGEC bulletin says plainly that you may not provide your own translations.
- A translation that reorders or condenses the transcript. ECE's rule is the same format as the original, and a table that no longer lines up with the source is sent back.
- Leaving a seal untranslated. The NABP rule names seals and stamps, and an untranslated stamp on a diploma is one of the commonest reasons a pharmacy file stalls.
- Buying the Translation Waiver and then needing the translation anyway. The waiver covers the ECE report only; the university, board or employer that receives the report may still ask for a translation of the documents themselves.
- Photocopied translations for NABP. The FPGEC bulletin says photocopies of translations are not accepted, and each page must carry an original signature.

Good to know about ECE
The Translation Waiver and a translation are not the same purchase. The waiver lets ECE evaluate without a translation; a translation is a document you keep and reuse with every other receiver of your degree.
For a NABP file, email us before ordering. Our standard delivery is one PDF with the translator's signature and date on the certificate, not on each page, and the FPGEC bulletin asks for an original signature on every page; we will tell you honestly whether we can meet that for your documents.
ECE publishes document requirements country by country, and its country pages say which documents must come directly from the institution. Check your country's page before ordering so you translate the right copy.
A Course by Course report needs the transcript translated in full, grading scale included. A General report can be built from the degree certificate alone.

Common questions
- Does ECE accept translations from Eagle Translate?
- ECE's rule for most reports is a word for word translation in the same format as the original, and it accepts translations from applicants themselves, so a professional one certainly qualifies. For NABP pharmacy files ECE requires an official translator, and a certified translator is on the FPGEC's list of official translators; our translator is named on the certificate, which also carries our ATA Corporate Member number, and the FPGEC's per page signature rule is stricter than our standard PDF, so ask us first for a pharmacy file. ECE decides each file; we do not give legal advice.
- Should I buy the ECE Translation Waiver or a translation?
- If ECE is the only place your documents will ever go, the $85 waiver is simplest. If the same documents will go to a university, a board or an employer, a translation serves all of them. With STUDENT25 a one page diploma is $18.71 and a typical diploma and transcript set comes to $56.14 to $149.70.
- Can I translate my own documents for ECE?
- For most report types, yes, as long as the translation is word for word and in the same format as the original. Not for NABP and FPGEC applications, where an official translator is required.
- I am a pharmacist applying through NABP. What exactly does the translation need?
- An original, official, word for word translation of every document that is not in English, seals and stamps included, prepared and certified as correct by an official translator, each page signed and dated on official stationery, with an attestation of accuracy and proof of the translator's credentials. Our standard PDF carries the signature and date on the certificate rather than on each page, so email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether we can deliver the per page format for your file.
- Does ECE need a notarized translation?
- ECE's published translation rules do not ask for notarization. For NABP files the bulletin asks for the translator's signature, date, attestation and credentials, not a notary. Our certificate is signed by the translator. We do not currently offer notarization; if another receiver insists on it, email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
- Which documents does ECE need translated?
- Every document you submit that was issued in another language, which in practice is the degree certificate and the transcript, and for a Course by Course report the complete transcript with its grading scale. ECE's country pages list the exact documents for your country.
- How long does the translation take?
- Certified delivery is 2 to 3 business days. With FREERUSH, Premium delivery in 1 to 2 business days is charged at the Certified price through 31 December 2026.
- Can ECE verify the certificate?
- Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
A translation error is ours to fix
If your certified translation is rejected because of a translation error we made, we correct it at no charge, and if the corrected translation is rejected again for that same error we refund what you paid for it. Our Refund Policy sets out the conditions and what it does not cover. Your documents are encrypted and kept confidential from start to finish.
