Certified translation of pharmacy credentials for FPGEC certification and a state pharmacy license
Every pharmacist educated outside the United States takes the same first step, FPGEC Certification from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, and every FPGEC file goes through one evaluator, Educational Credential Evaluators, because ECE is the only organization NABP works with. That makes the translation rule for pharmacists unusually clear and unusually strict. Any document not in English, including all seals and stamps, needs an official word for word English translation prepared and certified as correct by an official translator; the FPGEC counts a certified translator, a certified court interpreter, a government official, a pharmacy school official, a professional translation service in any country or a university language department as official; the translator must be identifiable, each page must carry an original signature and date on official stationery, photocopies are not accepted, and an attestation of accuracy and proof of credentials must accompany the translation. What NABP and ECE say, in their own words
Any document, including all seals and stamps, not in English must be accompanied by an official word-for-word English translation that is prepared and certified correct by an official translator. Review the Documentation Requirements section of the Bulletin for additional information.Seals and stamps are named on purpose. A pharmacy diploma from Latin America or Turkey usually carries three or four, and every one of them is described in brackets in our translation.
The FPGEC must be able to identify the name of the translator. Each page of the translation must include an original signature and be dated by the translator, and must appear on official stationery. Photocopies of translations are not accepted.The line to ask us about before you order. Our certificate names the translator and carries the signature and date on the page that opens the file; the per page signature and the ban on photocopies are stricter than a standard PDF delivery.
ECE will verify your degree credentials and is the only organization that can evaluate your credentials on behalf of NABP.The translation, the transcripts and the proof of degree all go to ECE, whose NABP documentation page prints the same translation rule.

What a foreign pharmacist's file requires
- Pharmacists educated outside the United States must achieve FPGEC Certification before applying for a pharmacy licensure exam or a state board of pharmacy license.
- Degree credentials, official transcripts, official proof of the pharmacy degree, translations of non English documents and the evaluation fee are submitted to ECE, the only evaluator NABP works with.
- The translation must be official and word for word, seals and stamps included, prepared and certified as correct by an official translator, with the translator identifiable, each page signed and dated on official stationery, an attestation of accuracy and proof of credentials.
- Applicants may not provide their own translations, and ECE's Translation Waiver is not available for NABP orders.
- Notarization is required for photocopies of the documents themselves, not for the translation.
Common reasons translations get rejected
- Ordering an evaluation from WES or another NACES member for the FPGEC. NABP accepts ECE only.
- Translating your own diploma because ECE allows it for other reports. For NABP files ECE does not, and the FPGEC bulletin says you may not.
- An unsigned page or a photocopied translation. Each page must carry an original signature and date, and photocopies are not accepted.
- A stamp left untranslated. The rule names seals and stamps twice.

Where a pharmacist's certified translation goes
- To ECE with the FPGEC application, under the bulletin's rule, for the pharmacy degree, transcripts and any license or registration not in English.
- To the state board of pharmacy after certification, and to the employer and USCIS for the visa petition, where a certified translation with the translator's signed statement is the standard.

ECE's NABP documentation page and the FPGEC bulletin print the same rule, so the file is judged by one standard at both organizations.
A translation made in your home country by a professional translation service is accepted by the FPGEC on the same terms, so a sworn translation you already hold may serve if it meets the per page signature rule.

- Can I use Eagle Translate for my FPGEC file?
- We are a professional translation service, which the FPGEC lists as an official translator, and our certificate identifies the translator and carries the attestation and credentials. The bulletin also wants an original signature and date on each page with no photocopies, which our standard PDF does not provide. - Which documents does the FPGEC need translated?
