NCEES Credentials Evaluations is the service most state engineering and surveying boards use for candidates who earned their degrees outside the United States, and its translation rule is consistent across every document it asks for. Official documents in the native language must be accompanied by literal English translations completed by a certified translation service; the transcript and the diploma must be submitted in both the native language and English; the native language transcript must still arrive at NCEES directly from the institution; and for course descriptions NCEES keeps only the certified translation, so the university sends the originals to you for translation. What an NCEES Credentials Evaluation requires of your documents
- All official documents in the native language must be accompanied by literal English translations completed by a certified translation service.
- Transcripts must be official; copies of foreign education documents are not acceptable, and the original language transcript must arrive at NCEES directly from the institution, with a translation from a certified translation company when it is not in English.
- For the diploma or certificate of graduation, both the native language document and the translated version must be submitted.
- For course descriptions, the university sends the native language originals to the applicant for translation by a certified translator; NCEES keeps only the certified translated course descriptions.
- NCEES Credentials Evaluations is designed for candidates who earned their degrees outside the United States and are pursuing licensure through an NCEES member licensing board.
Common reasons translations get rejected
- Translating the transcript yourself or through a friend. NCEES asks for a certified translation service or company on every document page it publishes.
- Sending NCEES a translation of a student copy of the transcript. The original language transcript has to come from the institution directly; the translation is your part.
- A summary of the course descriptions. NCEES wants literal translations, and a shortened syllabus can cost a course its credit.
- Forgetting the diploma in the native language. NCEES asks for both versions of the diploma.

- How are course descriptions priced?
- By text, at $24.95 for every 250 source words. A syllabus booklet with 40 short descriptions is often 12 to 20 billable pages, and STUDENT25 takes 25% off the whole order.
- Does NCEES need a notarized translation?
- Its pages do not mention notarization; they ask for a certified translation service. We do not currently offer notarization.
- How long does the translation take?
- Certified delivery is 2 to 3 business days; with FREERUSH, Premium delivery in 1 to 2 business days is charged at the Certified price through 31 December 2026. A long course description file may take the top of the range.
- Can NCEES verify the certificate?
- Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
A translation error is ours to fix
If your certified translation is rejected because of a translation error we made, we correct it at no charge, and if the corrected translation is rejected again for that same error we refund what you paid for it. Our Refund Policy sets out the conditions and what it does not cover. Your documents are encrypted and kept confidential from start to finish.
