Certified translation for an Educational Perspectives evaluation

Educational Perspectives (EP), a Chicago based NACES member since 2003, asks for an official or certified English translation of every document not issued in English and says plainly that you do not have to use its own translation service, since translations prepared by a reputable translation agency or by a certified, professional translator are accepted. EP defines a translation as literal and word for word, without interpretation, and counts a page as roughly 250 words, the same unit we bill by. Eagle Translate is a translation agency and an ATA Corporate Member, and each translation is literal, complete, and certified by the named professional translator. Certified translation is $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, in 2 to 3 business days, and STUDENT25 takes 25% off.

What Educational Perspectives says, in its own words

No. Translation services are offered as a convenience to our customers. Translations prepared by a reputable translation agency or by a certified, professional translator will be accepted.

EP answers the question directly. A reputable agency or a certified professional translator is enough, and Eagle Translate is both an agency and an ATA Corporate Member.

Documents that are not issued in English must be accompanied by an official or certified English translation.

The same sentence appears on EP's country sheets. Our certificate is the certification, the translator's signed statement, on letterhead, with a certificate number.

A credential evaluation report determines the US equivalency of any foreign academic credentials. A translation is a literal and word-for-word version of foreign language documents without any form of interpretation.

Literal and word for word, no interpretation. That is the rule we translate by. A grade of 8 stays an 8, a licenciatura stays a licenciatura, and the equivalency is left to EP.

Requirements

What an EP evaluation requires of your documents

  • Documents not issued in English must be accompanied by an official or certified English translation.
  • Translations prepared by a reputable translation agency or by a certified, professional translator are accepted; using EP's own translation service is not required.
  • EP prepares evaluation reports on the basis of official educational credentials only and does not accept photocopies or scanned copies sent by applicants for the evaluation itself.
  • EP describes a translation as a literal and word for word version of the foreign language documents without any form of interpretation.
  • EP has been a NACES member since 2003 and is on the New York State Education Department's list of approved organizations for teacher certification credential reports.

Common reasons translations get rejected

  • Sending scans for the evaluation itself. EP evaluates official credentials only; the translation can be made from a scan, the evaluation cannot.
  • A translation that interprets. EP's definition excludes any form of interpretation; a translator who converts grades or renames a degree has stepped into the evaluator's job.
  • An uncertified translation. EP's country sheets ask for official or certified translations, and an unsigned document is neither.
  • Forgetting the transcript's reverse. A grading scale printed on the back is part of the record, and a course by course report cannot be built without it.

Questions

Common questions

Does Educational Perspectives accept translations from Eagle Translate?
EP says translations prepared by a reputable translation agency or by a certified, professional translator will be accepted. Eagle Translate is a translation agency and an ATA Corporate Member, and each translation is certified by a named professional translator. EP decides each file; we do not give legal advice.
Does EP need a notarized translation?
EP's pages ask for an official or certified translation and do not mention notarization. Our certificate is signed by the translator. We do not currently offer notarization; if another receiver insists on it, email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can I send EP scans of my documents?
For the translation, yes, we work from a clear scan. For the evaluation, no, because EP requires official educational credentials and does not accept photocopies or scans from applicants for the report itself.
How much does the translation cost and how long does it take?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 source words, in 2 to 3 business days, no certification fee. STUDENT25 takes 25% off; FREERUSH gives Premium 1 to 2 business day delivery at the Certified price. One code per order.
Can EP verify the certificate?
Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
