Translation requirements for a TruMerit, formerly CGFNS, Credentials Evaluation Service report

TruMerit, the new name of CGFNS International, produces the Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) report that state boards of nursing such as Texas and Florida accept for nurses educated abroad, and it draws its translation line by document type. All documents must be in English. The secondary school diploma can be translated by the applicant or by someone the applicant chooses. The nursing diploma and the complete academic record must reach TruMerit directly from each institution attended, in English and translated by the institution itself; if the institution cannot provide an English translation, TruMerit translates for an additional fee of $85 per standard page. That is a narrower rule than the evaluation agencies publish, and it means a certified translation from us belongs in two places in a nurse's file, the secondary school diploma for the CES report, and every document the state board, the employer and USCIS ask for alongside it. Certified translation is $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, in 2 to 3 business days, and STUDENT25 takes 25% off.

The nursing transcript rule names the institution and TruMerit, and no third party. We say so plainly rather than sell you a page TruMerit may not use; if you want to ask TruMerit about a certified translation for the transcript, ask before you order anything.

Request to have your required documents translated into English, if determined to be necessary. Fee applies to standard sized, 8.5 x 11 inch documents.

$85 per page is the price of leaving the translation to TruMerit.

Requirements

What a TruMerit CES report requires of your documents

  • All documents must be in English; secondary school diplomas may be translated by the applicant or someone the applicant chooses, or by TruMerit for a fee.
  • The nursing diploma and a complete academic record or transcript must reach TruMerit directly from each educational institution attended, in English and translated by the institution; if the institution cannot provide an English translation, TruMerit translates for an additional fee.
  • TruMerit's fee for translations of documents is $85 per standard sized page.
  • The CES Professional Report validates and authenticates all licenses, registrations and diplomas and includes a statement of comparability of the applicant's nursing education against US nursing standards.
  • TruMerit is on the Texas Board of Nursing's list of approved credential evaluation service providers, and CGFNS is on the Florida Board of Nursing's list of approved education evaluation providers.

Common reasons translations get rejected

  • Paying $85 per page for the secondary school diploma when the rule lets you choose the translator. That page is $18.71 with STUDENT25.
  • Sending TruMerit a transcript you obtained and translated yourself. The nursing record must come from the institution directly, translated by the institution or by TruMerit.
  • Assuming the CES report replaces the translations the state board wants. Boards, employers and USCIS receive the diploma, license and transcript on their own terms, and those terms are a certified translation.

Who relies on it

Who this rule reaches

  • Nurses educated outside the United States whose state board requires a CES report, including Texas, where TruMerit is one of four approved providers, and Florida, where CGFNS is one of six.
  • Nurses applying in New York, where TruMerit's Credentials Verification Service for New York State is the optional first pathway and NYSED's own translation rule applies to the alternative.

Good to know

Good to know about TruMerit

CGFNS International now operates as TruMerit, and cgfns.org addresses redirect to trumerit.org; the Florida board still lists the service under its CGFNS name.

TruMerit publishes no certification, notarization or letterhead standard for translations; its rule is about who translates, the institution or TruMerit, and about the secondary school exception.

International Consultants of Delaware, the NACES evaluator owned by CGFNS since 2000, accepts translations by a certified translator for its own reports, a different rule from the CES report.

Certified translation with us is $24.95 per page of up to 250 words; STUDENT25 takes 25% off and FREERUSH gives Premium delivery at the Certified price. One code per order.

Questions

Common questions

Does TruMerit accept translations from Eagle Translate?
For the secondary school diploma, TruMerit accepts a translation by anyone the applicant chooses, which includes us. For the nursing diploma and transcript its published rule names the institution or TruMerit itself, so ask TruMerit before ordering a certified translation for those. TruMerit decides each file; we do not give legal advice.
Which of my documents should I translate with you, then?
The secondary school diploma for the CES report, and the diploma, transcript, nursing license and registration certificate for the state board, the employer and the visa petition, which ask for certified translations of their own copies.
Does TruMerit need a notarized translation?
Its pages do not mention notarization or certification for translations at all; the rule is about who translates. We do not currently offer notarization.
How much does the translation cost and how long does it take?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 source words, in 2 to 3 business days, no certification fee. STUDENT25 takes 25% off; FREERUSH gives Premium 1 to 2 business day delivery at the Certified price. One code per order.
Can a board or employer verify the certificate?
Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
