Certified translation for a Transcript Research evaluation
Transcript Research, a NACES member since 2011, is the evaluator whose translation rules depend most on the language. Documents in French, Spanish or Portuguese need a typed, word for word English translation that follows the same format as the original; documents in other languages need professional translations by official translators in the home country or members of the American Translators Association in the United States, and its country sheets say so expressly for German, Dutch and Turkish records. In every case the translation must be literal and word for word for the entire academic record, an evaluation from another company is not accepted as a translation, and the native language document is required alongside. What a Transcript Research evaluation requires of your documents
- Academic documents issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a typed English translation, done by the educational institution, a government approved translator, or, if translated in the United States, a member of the American Translators Association.
- For documents issued in French, Spanish or Portuguese, Transcript Research asks for typed, word for word English translations in the same format as the native language documents, and its FAQ says it allows self translation for some select languages.
- For documents not issued in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese, professional translations are required, by official translators in the home country or ATA members in the United States; the country sheets for Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey say so expressly.
- A literal, word for word translation of the entire academic record is required; an evaluation from another company is not accepted as a translation.
- Translations are the applicant's responsibility, and changing the report later on the basis of a new translation means paying for both the new translation and the revision.
Common reasons translations get rejected
- A self made translation of a German, Dutch or Turkish record. Transcript Research's country sheets for those countries require a certified translator or an ATA member.
- Submitting another agency's evaluation in place of a translation. Transcript Research does not accept it.
- A translation that reformats the transcript. The rule is the same format as the native language document, and a reflowed grade table is the usual reason for a request to redo it.
- Fixing course titles after the report is issued. Transcript Research charges for the new translation and for revising the report, so a complete, literal translation before ordering saves both.

For Turkish records Transcript Research asks for copies of the Turkish documents even when the institution also issued them in English, unless English was the language of instruction.
Transcript Research is not a translation company; it has an in house option for some languages and a collaborative relationship with an ATA corporate member, and publishes no price.

Common questions
- Does Transcript Research accept translations from Eagle Translate?
- For French, Spanish and Portuguese documents it asks for a typed, word for word translation in the original format, which ours is. For other languages it asks for an ATA member in the United States, and Eagle Translate is an ATA Corporate Member with the translator named on the certificate. Transcript Research decides each file; we do not give legal advice.
- My documents are in Spanish. Can I translate them myself for Transcript Research?
- Transcript Research's FAQ says it allows self translation for some select languages, and its Spanish, French and Portuguese rule asks only for a typed, word for word translation in the same format. A certified one costs $18.71 per page with STUDENT25 and is accepted by every other receiver too.
- Does Transcript Research need a notarized translation?
- No. Its rules name the format and the translator, not a notary. Our certificate is signed by the translator. We do not currently offer notarization; if another receiver insists on it, email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
- How much does the translation cost and how long does it take?

- Can Transcript Research verify the certificate?
- Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
A translation error is ours to fix
If your certified translation is rejected because of a translation error we made, we correct it at no charge, and if the corrected translation is rejected again for that same error we refund what you paid for it. Our Refund Policy sets out the conditions and what it does not cover. Your documents are encrypted and kept confidential from start to finish.
