Certified translation for a Foundation for International Services evaluation

The Foundation for International Services (FIS), in business since 1978 and a charter member of NACES, requires English translations, preferably certified translations, for all non English documents needed to perform an evaluation. FIS prefers but does not require certified translations; when a translation is not certified, or when FIS cannot verify the credentials of the translator, the final report says so, which is the kind of note an admissions office or a licensing board notices. Eagle Translate's translation is certified by a named professional translator at an ATA Corporate Member, and the certificate number can be verified online, so nothing on the report needs a caveat. Certified translation is $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, in 2 to 3 business days, and STUDENT25 takes 25% off.

In their own words

What FIS says, in its own words

English translations (preferably certified translations) are required for all non-English documents that are necessary to perform an evaluation. FIS offers translation services (these fees are in addition to the evaluation price).

Required, and preferably certified. Ours are certified as a matter of course, and a translation you bring costs nothing extra on the evaluation side.

FIS prefers, but does not require, the submission of certified translations. If certified translations are not provided or if FIS cannot verify the credentials of the translator, the final report will indicate this.
Source FIS, Terms and Conditions, read on 2026-09-15

The caveat lands on your report, not on the translator. A certificate that names the translator, carries the ATA member number and can be verified online keeps the report clean.

Each FIS translation is issued electronically and comes with a Certificate of Translation Accuracy that ensures your document has been carefully and accurately translated by an experienced professional. For an additional $30 we can provide two notarized hard copies that will be mailed to the address of your choice.

FIS's own product is a Certificate of Translation Accuracy delivered electronically, with notarization as a paid extra. Ours takes the same form, and the certificate is included in the page price.

Requirements

What a FIS evaluation requires of your documents

  • English translations, preferably certified, are required for all non English documents necessary to perform an evaluation.
  • FIS prefers but does not require certified translations; if none is provided, or FIS cannot verify the translator's credentials, the final report indicates this.
  • FIS prefers but does not require original documents, especially for evaluations used for licensure, certification and employment; if copies are submitted the report says so.
  • Adding FIS's own translation service extends the evaluation turnaround; the fastest combined document by document evaluation with translations is three business days.
  • FIS has been in business since 1978 and is a charter member of NACES.

Common reasons translations get rejected

  • An uncertified translation that puts a caveat on your report. FIS says the final report will indicate when certified translations were not provided or the translator could not be verified.
  • Translating documents FIS does not need. FIS translates only the documents necessary for the evaluation; check its requirements before ordering extra pages.
  • Leaving the translation to the last day. Translation added to a FIS order extends its due date, and a next day evaluation with translation becomes a three day one.
  • A partial translation. Only complete and legible documents are accepted for translation, and an incomplete translation carries the same caveat on the report.

Questions

Common questions

Does FIS accept translations from Eagle Translate?
FIS requires English translations and prefers certified ones; the only condition it states is that it can verify the translator's credentials, otherwise the report says so. Ours are certified by a named professional translator at an ATA Corporate Member and verifiable online by certificate number. FIS decides each file; we do not give legal advice.
Does FIS need a notarized translation?
No. FIS does not require notarization; it sells notarized hard copies of its own translations as an optional extra. Our certificate is signed by the translator. We do not currently offer notarization; if another receiver insists on it, email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can I translate my own documents for FIS?
FIS's terms do not forbid it, but they say the report will indicate when certified translations were not provided or the translator could not be verified. A caveat like that is read by whoever receives the report.
How much does the translation cost and how long does it take?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 source words, in 2 to 3 business days, no certification fee. STUDENT25 takes 25% off; FREERUSH gives Premium 1 to 2 business day delivery at the Certified price. One code per order.
Can FIS verify the certificate?
Yes. Each certificate carries its own number and a QR code that lead to eagletranslate.com/verify, where the number is confirmed against our records.
