How Much Does a Certified Translation Cost?

A certified translation costs $24.95 per page at Eagle Translate, and one page means up to 250 words of the document you send rather than one sheet of paper. Most single records, a birth certificate or a marriage certificate for example, come in under 250 words, so the whole order is $24.95. A translation without certification is $19.95 per page, and Premium, which is translated ahead of other orders and delivered in one to two business days, is $39.95 per page.

Certification is included in the Certified and Premium rates. There is no separate charge for the certificate of accuracy, for the official template the translation is issued on, for matching the layout of your original, or for delivery. The price shown before you pay is the price you pay.

The rate is the same for every language pair we work in. Translating a document from Turkish into English costs exactly what translating from Spanish into English costs, and the eight languages we cover are listed on the languages page. Divide any rate by 250 and you have the per word equivalent, which is just under 8 cents a word at Standard, just under 10 cents at Certified, and about 16 cents at Premium. Why certified translation is priced per page

Translation cost tracks the amount of text a translator has to read, render and check, not the number of sheets in the file. A dense academic transcript can carry four times the text of a birth certificate printed on the same size paper. Pricing by a page of up to 250 words keeps the rate proportional to the actual work while staying simple enough to quote in one line.

It also means the number is predictable before anyone starts. Your document is measured when you upload it, the page count appears on screen, and the total is fixed at that point. There is no reweighing at the end and no invoice that arrives larger than the quote. What common documents actually cost

These are typical page counts at the Certified rate of $24.95 per page.

• Birth certificate, usually 100 to 200 words, one page, $24.95
• Marriage certificate, one page, $24.95
• Passport biographical page, one page, $24.95
• Police clearance certificate, one page, $24.95
• University transcript running about 900 words, four pages, $99.80
• Divorce decree of about 2,100 words, nine pages, $224.55
• Commercial contract of about 4,000 words, sixteen pages, $399.20

The same documents at the Standard rate are $19.95 per page, and at Premium they are $39.95 per page. A one page birth certificate is therefore $19.95, $24.95 or $39.95 depending on the level you pick, and only the Certified and Premium versions carry the signed certificate of accuracy that official filings ask for.

The 50 page limit on a single order

One order can hold up to 50 pages, which is $1,247.50 at the Certified rate. That covers almost every personal filing and most business documents. What is never charged as an extra

What happens if a certified translation is rejected

If a certified translation is rejected because of a translation error we made, we correct it at no charge. If the corrected translation is rejected again for that same error, we refund what you paid for it. You need to tell us within 30 days and send us the written rejection. The conditions, and the situations this does not cover, are set out in full in the refund policy.

That remedy covers our work. It does not cover a filing turned down for a reason that has nothing to do with the translation, such as a missing form, an expired document or an instruction from the receiving office that was never passed to us. Requirements differ between agencies, courts and universities, and the instructions you were given by the office receiving your paperwork always govern.

What to check when you compare translation prices

Quoted rates are only comparable once you know what sits behind them. Five things are worth checking before you decide.

• Whether certification is included in the rate or added at checkout
• What the provider counts as a page, since 250 words and one sheet of paper are very different units
• Whether you see the real price before paying or an estimate that moves afterwards
• Turnaround stated in business days, not vague promises of speed
• Whether the certificate you receive can be checked by the office you send it to, which anyone can do on our verification page

Which level you actually need

If the document is going to a government agency, a court, a university or a licensing board, you need Certified at $24.95 or Premium at $39.95, because those are the levels that carry the signed certificate of accuracy. Standard at $19.95 is for translations you need to be accurate but do not need to be certified, such as internal business documents or personal correspondence.

Premium is worth the extra $15.00 a page only when your deadline is genuinely inside three business days. The translation itself, the certificate and the way it is prepared are identical to Certified.
