Requirements
What a certified translation must include
- A complete, word for word English translation of the entire document, including seals, stamps, signatures, and marginal notes.
- A signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy stating that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate.
- The certificate carries the printed name and signature of the qualified professional translator, the language pair, the date, and the order reference.
- A QR code on the certificate opens a public verification record for the order.

How Turkish-language documents work
Turkey's civil registry is centralized under the General Directorate of Civil Registration and Citizenship Affairs (Nüfus ve Vatandaşlık İşleri Genel Müdürlüğü, NVİ) within the Ministry of Interior (İçişleri Bakanlığı). Records live in the central MERNİS database (Merkezî Nüfus İdare Sistemi) and extracts are issued by district civil registry offices (ilçe nüfus müdürlüğü). The English agency name is confirmed on the US State Department reciprocity page for Turkey.
The standard Turkish vital-record document is the Nüfus Kayıt Örneği (civil registry extract), issued by the General Directorate of Civil Registration and Citizenship Affairs, through the e-Devlet portal (turkiye.gov.tr), and by Turkish embassies and consulates abroad. Registry-office copies bear a red Government of Türkiye seal at the bottom right and two signatures (preparer and approver), and are formatted as a chart printed landscape on A4 paper listing the holder and family members in columns. A more detailed version showing all recorded family events is the Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Örneği.
Turkey is a contracting party to the Hague Apostille Convention; it ratified on 31 July 1985 and the Convention entered into force for Turkey on 29 September 1985. Cyprus is also a party, in force since 30 April 1973.
In Turkey, apostilles for administrative documents are issued by provincial governorships (valilik) and district governorships (kaymakamlık); apostilles for judicial documents are issued through the justice system (heavy penal court presidencies and judicial justice commissions).
