Apostilles and notarization in Arkansas
The Business and Commercial Services Division of the Arkansas Secretary of State is the state's designated competent authority and the only Arkansas office that issues apostilles, located in the Victory Building at 1401 W. Capitol Avenue, Suite 250, in Little Rock.
An apostille costs $10 per document and a certification costs $5 per document, with most requests processed in 24 to 48 hours. Payment is accepted by check, cash, credit card, or money order.
The office can only authenticate documents issued in Arkansas by county, state, or district officials, notaries, or registrars of the Arkansas Department of Health Bureau of Vital Statistics, so a private document must first be notarized by an Arkansas notary before it can receive an apostille.
Arkansas issues two types of authentication, the apostille and the certification, and the receiving country determines which one is needed.
USCIS does not require notarized translations from Arkansas applicants. Federal rules require a certified translation, meaning a full English translation with the translator's signed statement of accuracy and competence.
